Parallèlement à sa formation scientifique, Bertrand Chauvineau a reçu une formation de pianiste. Il est à ce titre diplômé de l'Ecole Nationale de Musique de Cachan (1987, Prix d'Excellence) et de l'Institut Musical Européen de Besançon (1991, Diplôme Pédagogique). Il a eu pour professeurs Ani et Raffi Petrossian, Michael Desjardins et Louis-Noël Belaubre. Il a également, lors de diverses Master Class, travaillé avec Deniz Gelembe, Théodore Paraskivesco, Jean-Claude Pennetier et, plus particulièrement, avec Françoise Chaffiaud.

En 2013, il réoriente complètement son activité musicale vers la composition, suite à divers encouragements (Jean-Claude Pennetier, Françoise Chaffiaud, Ginette Gaubert), l’incitant à approfondir son langage musical propre. Il a depuis obtenu diverses distinctions dans ce domaine. Notamment :
- (Juillet 2016) 2cd compositeur classé lors du 25ème concours international de la fondation IBLA (New York) à Ragusa/Ibla (Sicile), sur une quarantaine de compositeurs (1) ;
- (Décembre 2016) 3ème prix au 6ème concours international de composition Fidelio (Espagne), sur 184 compositeurs (2) ;
- (Mai 2018) un des 6 compositeurs distingués au 4ème concours du Centre Culturel "An Art Artistry", à Athènes/Grèce, sur 40 compositeurs (3) ;
- (Avril 2019/Décembre 2021) un des 7/8 finalistes de la 2ème/3ème édition du concours international de composition "Cum Laude Music Awards" (Espagne), sur une centaine de compositeurs (4).
In parallel of his training as a scientist, Bertrand Chauvineau was trained as a pianist at the Ecole Nationale de Musique de Cachan, where he obtained the Excellence prize in 1987, and at the Institut Musical Européen de Besançon, where he completed the professional cycle in 1991. During these years, he mainly worked with Ani and Raffi Petrossian, Michael Desjardins and Louis-Noël Belaubre. He also attended Master Classes with Deniz Gelembe, Théodore Paraskivesco, Jean-Claude Pennetier and, on a more regular basis, with Françoise Chaffiaud.

In the late 2000s, a drastic change occured in his musical life, getting more and more involved in composition. He completely switched to this activity in 2013, encouraged by different musicians (Jean-Claude Pennetier, Françoise Chaffiaud, Ginette Gaubert). As a composer, he then awarded several distinctions in international competitions, among which:
- (July 2016) ranked 2cd composer at the 25th IBLA International Musical Competition (New York) at Ragusa/Ibla (Sicily), among about 40 composers (1);
- (December 2016) 3rd prize at the 6th Composers' Fidelio International Competition (Spain) among 184 composers (2);
- (May 2018) one of the 6 distinguished composers at the 4th competition of the Cultural Center "An Art Artistry" (Athens/Greece) among 40 composers (3);
- (April 2019/December 2021) one of the 7/8 finalists of the 2cd/3rd International Musical Composition Competition "Cum Laude Music Awards" (Spain), among about one hundred composers (4).
